Owen County Cyclones Wrestling Club

All Team Memebers from Folkstyle and Freestyle are invited to join us for our end of season party.  This party is open to the wrestlers and their families.  Please bring your own drinks and a side dish or desert if you can.  We will be recognizing some of our wrestlers for their accomplishments during the folkstyle season.  The party will be Sunday, May 16th at Flatwoods Park at 2pm.  Contact me if you have any questions.

Special Congrats to Freestyle State placers: Jake 6th, Devin 3rd, Ciera 1st (womens), Dillon 5th, Josh 6th, Tucker 1st and Nicky 6th. For Greco Devin 5th, Taylor 4th, Tucker 1st, Dillon 1st. Special Congrats to our "Triple Crown" Winner Tucker Kirkhoff and to our second "National Team Indiana" member Devin Broukal!!!

As you know, freestyle state is this weekend.  You need to have pre-qualified by placing in the top 4 at any freestyle tournament.  You will need to weigh-in, register and pay $35.00 cash on-site Friday.  We will be having practice on Thursday from 6-8pm since there will not be practice friday because of weigh-ins.

Congratulations go out to all of our competitors who traveled to Kansas City, Mo to compete at the Brute Nationals.  We came home with three All-Americans.  Tucker Kirkhoff 2nd place, Dylan Hatton 7th place, and Devin Broukal 4th place.  Kudos to Devin for the most wins in the largest bracket of our competitors.  Also, special mention of Robert Stewart who wrestled hard but was unable to place after his first win due to injury in his 2nd match.

We will be splitting this weekend between Center Grove and Booneville.  Weigh-ins, money and paperwork due Monday night. There will be only one more chance to qualify for state after this weekend, so try to wrestle and qualify (top 4 places) this weekend or at Franklin next weekend.

Our first freestyle tournament will be Saturday, March 20th at Mooresville.  Remember you need to sign-up, weigh-in and pay at the Monday practice before the tournament you would like to attend.  NO exceptions!  If you have not paid in full by the faxed in weights due date, your name will not be faxed in.

Congratulations to the 2010 45# Bantam Folkstyle State Champion TUCKER KIRKHOFF! Congratulations also go out to 4th place 112# Schoolboy Dillon Trimble. 

There was some tough competition at Border Wars.  The Cyclones faced competitors from Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Indiana and some other states.  Our wrestler's performed well at the Nationals.  We came away with 3 all-americans--Devin Broukal, Tucker Kirkhoff, and Taylor Kirkhoff!! Congratulations.  Ciera Broukal brought home a 2nd place finish in the Women's Division.  We are proud of all of you.

We had 7 wrestler's qualify for Battle Creek, Mi on November 7&8th.  Devin Broukal, Ciera Broukal, Taylor Kirkhoff and Tucker Kirkhoff all took home 1st place wins.

Congratulations go out to COACH RAY who won both his matches without his opponents being able to score even one point on him!  He practice what he preaches wrestlers.  Also, congratulations go out to 100# Champion Dillon Trimble, 95# Champion Devin Broukal, 95# Champion(intermediate) Logan Trimble!!!!

Congratulations to all our  Cyclone wrestlers who competed in the Western Indiana Conference.  Back to back  Conference Champions 2008 and 2009  Devin Broukal and Kaelan Shouse.  Congratulations to Sean Huss and Ethan Yates 2009 Conference Champions.  Jacob Morley and William Newforth @ 2nd place.  James Tussey & Dillon McGraw 3rd place.  Ben Myers, Kevin Delp and Taylor Kirkhoff @ 4th place.    

Congrats to Tucker Kirkhoff for placing 2nd and to Logan Trimble for taking 4th place.  Great Job Guys!

Congratulation to Devin Broukal who placed 6th, out of 44 competitiors, in the IHSWCA Middle School State Championships.  Congrats also to William Newforth and Kaelan Shouse who also had wins at the tournament.
