Season:

Email Team Organizer

Daniel Street Bombers

April 6, 2008

Hey guys, I put the finishing touches on the schedule. There are 13 games, which is odd, as the number of games each season goes down. Anyways, if you click on schedule, you can see all our games. As soon as you can, please notify me of any games you can not attend. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to tell me. I am NOT going to call each person on the team and ask if they are planning on making the game.

Since no one except Ray, Jeff, and Frank responded to my email about practice, (which is great), we are not having a Milford team practice. Instead Frank has a field lined up for practice Sunday (tomorrow) from 2-4 pm.

I'm assuming everyone is a go for Thursday, as no one has made me aware of any issues. The 7:30 start will help us out, since we have several guys on the team who coach a spring sport at schools. Anyways, that's it from here, look forward to seeing you guys soon.

Hey everyone, just wanted to touch base on some urgent matters. First and foremost, I have the schedule, and our first game will be on Thursday, April 10, 7:30 at Washington Field in Milford. I am going to work on posting the schedule on the internet asap, so people can figure out if they're going to miss any games with coaching, work, summer vacation, etc.

In terms of the jerseys, they're on their way...they look pretty good, so I will get those out to everyone soon.

As for practice, how does everyone feel about this Saturday or Sunday? Can you email me your availability, either in or out. If you can make it, email me please and tell me how your availability is during the morn/day/late afternoon. If you can't make it, please call me or email me. This is the best means of communication, since I don't want to have to call every single person for every little thing. If you can get back to me by Wednesday, that'd be great. If not, I'll have to call people.

If there are any concerns, fire away an email.

Love Paul

Hey guys,

Now that I'm back from California, I wanted to talk to everyone about what's going on with the team this year. First of all, there's this talk of having a softball "stag" or a smoker, and it doesn't seem like it's going to work out. The guy in charge of the hall where Jeff used to live won't back to any of us, and the hall I checked in West Haven (The Polish American Club) is too pricey for the timeframe. Especially since you want all this expensive entertainment which we would have to cross our fingers we can break even with.

The goal of the smoker, in my opinion, was to have extra $ to play in tournaments instead of telling everyone to pay $20 apiece or whatever the entry fee was. Ray had told me that half our team is on another tournament team already that plays in these, so we as Daniel Street, can not compete in these tournaments, unless we field other players.

As for what Richie says he's giving us, which is "less than last year because 2008 is a new year," he told me before vacation, it will be enough for umpires ($500). I am set with balls, I may order another dozen, and everyone has a hat. Sorry, but this year, I'm not ordering a new stash of hats, it's just not worth it. I am waiting to hear on two potential businesses in Monroe for a secondary sponsor. Hopefully, at the very least, they can buy our jerseys.

With a player fee of $25-30 a person, which I think is more than fair, it will cover some of the entry fees, and whatever is left over, we can apply that to some tournaments in ASA. There is one in April I think in Stamford.

I'd like to get input and help from people this year, as I've been ok the last couple of years doing all the work myself. This year though, to avoid anyone being pissed at me, and for everyone to have a good time, we should all communicate. Not one person besides Ray talked to me about another sponsor. Everyone should get my emails. The smoker idea is a good one, but I don't see the aggravation for an extra $200. And that's IF we get 30 people or so to guarantee they'll be there. You all know it doesn't work like that all the time. The poker tournament would involve a lot of time (more hours for the hall = more $).

Anyone have any thoughts? Concerns/ideas? Please feel free to email me or call me. Frank and I are going later this week to pick out jerseys for his and my team respectively. Hopefully, we can stick another name on the jersey besides Daniel Street. I really would like to see if we can get someone to commit basically $200 for jerseys, that would help out a lot.

Anyways, that's it for now, 6 more weeks before opening day. When the grounds get dry and stuff, we'll have to start practicing.

Lastly, does anyone have Danny Ruggerio's email address?

With love,
Paul

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to touch base on a few things...

1) Registration starts tomorrow, February 1. So when I get the official word that we're in, I'll let everyone know.

2) I want some suggestions for uniforms, i.e. colors, shirt style, pants, etc. I want to go with cheap, but decent shirts, and pants you get on your own. With the money we get from sponsors, we should pay for the umpire fees, and tournament teams.

3) There are presently I think five tournaments we should do in North Branford from March to August that go for $250 a clip. I think we should use some money for those.

4) As for another sponsor, anyone want to help me find a second one? Since Richie never really checks our jerseys to see that it doesn't even say Daniel Street, I think we can go to a place and say we'll throw their name on the back.

5) Kulenych is checking still for the hall to have a smoker. I don't know how this is going to work out if we can't get a hall. A poker tournament would really help us raise money. Any other ideas out there?

6) Welcome back, and I hope this season sees us at the very LEAST winning the Milford title this year.
