Okay guys... I am a total loser... I brought all my basketball stuff to school this morning to finish up your packets for the banquet, and I left it all there before doing this. I am REALLY sorry!!! This is what I remember...

Points: Riley: 18 (6 for 12 from free throw line), Sarah: 6, Abby: 4, Lizzy: 2, Alicia: 2

Rebounds and Blocked Shots: Riley had a lot

Rebounds: Lizzy had some too

Good Defense: Abby, Riley, Lizzy, Alicia, Sarah, Madison, Tess, and Addy

Steals: Abby and Sarah both had some

Turnovers: Everyone had at least one

You guys played so hard. I can honestly say that we played our hearts out. It was one of the funnest games I have ever been a part of. Thanks for a great season and you will have exact stats from the game at the banquet.

Coach Howard

The 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Oregon Trail by a score of 40-27 last night in the 2nd round of the city tournament. Riley White led scoring with 18 points and Abby Rhodes added 12 more. Sarah Finks dropped in 6 more points! White and Rhodes combined for 25 rebounds. Madison Rusnak even had a blocked shot in the game. The girls take on Prairie Trail tonight at 4:45 for the city championship. Please come and cheer us on to victory!!

Girls be ready to sit in the stands and watch the first game and shoot around at 1/2 time. RIght after school head to the locker room, get changed and into the gym no later than 3:15. Make sure and lock up all your stuff b/c other teams will be using the locker room!!

The 8th grade city tournament games have been canceled for Tuesday night. We will play on Wednesday right after school We play Oregon Trail. After our game, PRT and PT will play. Will update when I have additional information.

8th Grade

The 8th grade girls basketball team took on Santa Fe Trail in the first round of the city tournament last night. They won by a score of 41 to 22. Riley White led Jaguar scoring with 11 points, Abby Rhodes added 10 more, while Sarah Finks and Madison Rusnak chipped in with 8 and 7 points respectively. White had 4 blocked shots and Rhodes had 4 steals. Finks had 3 assists in the win. Come watch the girls play at 3:30 today in Round 2!!

Great job girls... come ready to play tomorrow!!

8th Grade:

The 8th grade girls basketball team fell to Oregon Trail last night in both the A and B games. The A team lost 43 to 41 in a tight game. Madison Rusnak led scoring with 15 points, Riley White had 14 and Abby Rhodes added 10 more. White lead rebounding with 9 boards. Rhodes did a great job of breaking the press and  steals. Lizzy Intfen had 5 steals as well. The B team lost by a score of 27 to 23. Tess Augustyn led scoring with 9 points. Bradie Johnson and Mariah Adams each added 4 more. Adams and Johnson each had 7 boards. Johnson played her best game of the season. Rachel Werth and Rachel Rodriguez combined for excellent defense.

Please come ready to work hard in practice for the rest of this week. We need it.
 

The banquet date has changed! We will now be having the girls basketball banquet on January 6th, 2009 (Tuesday) at 7:30 PM. We will meet in the auditorium. Please bring a dessert to share! Let Coach Allen or Coach Howard know if you have any questions.

Also: There will be NO returning bus tomorrow (Tues.12-9) from the 8th grade game at OT. Girls will bring all their stuff with them to OT and go home directly from there.

8th Grade:

The 8th grade girls basketball defeated California Trail last night in both the A and B games. The A team won by a score of 36 to 17. Riley White led scoring with 21 points and Madison Rusnak added 6 more. White also led rebounding with 8 and had 3 HUGE blocked shots. Great defensive effort by all! The B team played down to the wire and was led in scoring by Alicia DeSanto with 11 points. Tess Augustyn added 9 more and hit key free throws in the 4th quarter. Kaitlyn Parrott made a key basket in the second quarter and Bradie Johnson had a great blocked shot to win a possession. Great effort Jags!!

Great job girls! Enjoy your day off tomorrow and be ready to work hard next week to prepare for city!!!

8th Grade

The 8th grade girls basketball team took on Chisholm Trail last night. The A team won by a score of 42 to 30. Sarah Finks led scoring with 14 points and Abby Rhodes had 13. Riley White led rebounding with 11 and she had 4 blocked shots. Madison Rusnak, Lizzy Intfen, and Addy Johnston each had 3 assists in the win. The B team fought hard, but they were defeated by a score of 19 to 27. Whittles Cox led scoring with12 points. Mariah Adams led rebounding with 7 boards. Rachel Rodriguez and Rachel Werth each had 6 steals in the game.

Good Job girls... no technical fouls! Thanks to the Adams' for the post-game Gatorades!!
 

8th Grade:

The 8th grade basketball team took on Lawrence South last night and won by a score of 31 to 15. Lizzy Intfen led scoring with 8 points. Riley White and Sarah Finks each chipped in for 6 more and Addy Johnston had 5. Abby Rhodes and Alicia DeSanto each had 2 assists in the game. White had 2 blocked shots and 9 rebounds. Tess Augustyn had 7 boards.

Parents: Thanks for your support in getting the girls fed! Sorry about the lack of a B game... not sure what happened with that. I rechecked my info and it all said A and B games. Oh well!!

8th Grade

The 8th grade basketball team took on Prairie Trail last Tues. night. Despite tremendous defense and play by the entire team, the A team fell by a score of 32 to 37. Riley White led scoring with 13 points and Madison Rusnak had 8 points. White had 16 rebounds. Abby Rhodes played incredible defense and Sarah Finks had great passing. The B team was defeated as well by a score of 23 to 32. Whitney Cox led scoring with 8 points and Alicia DeSanto chipped in with 5 more. Bradie Johnson played her best quarter in the 2nd quarter of the game. Rachel Rodriguez had 4 steals.

Seriously girls... great effort tonight. I am so proud of all of you!! Don't eat too much turkey! We have a game on Monday!!! Will miss you all! : ) Happy Thanksgiving!!

8th Grade

The 8th grade basketball team defeated Pioneer Trail last night in both the A and B games. The A team pulled off the win in the final minute, winning by one point 35 to 34. Riley White led scoring with 19 points and Abby Rhodes chipped in 6 more. White had 12 rebounds and Sarah Finks had 3 steals. The B team won by a score of 30 to 9. Whitney Cox and Tess Augustyn each had 10 points. Mariah Adams had 3 assists in the game. The 8th grade takes on Prairie Trail after school today, here at home.

** Coach Howard has a screaming headache from having to yell at the refs so much... Maybe if we moved our feet a little quicker, we wouldn't have 17 fouls in one game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8th Grade

Whitney Cox displayed true team unity throughout the game and had six steals and a blocked shot. Rachel Werth had 10 points. The 8th grade plays Pioneer Trail on Monday at home.

Alicia DeSanto delighted fans with her loud exclamation during a steal and drive to the basket of "Ouch, THAT HURTS"!

White also had 9 blocked shots and Sarah Finks had 5 assists. The B team won by a score of 45 to 21. Rachel DeSanto had 15 points and Rachel Werth had 11. Desanto had Rachel Rodriguez each had 5 steals in the win.

Apparently the team went to Jose Peppers to celebrate the wins... Thanks for inviting the Coach guys... extra running on Monday to work off the chips and dip!!
 

8th Grade

The 8th Grade Girls basketball team defeated California Trail in both the A and B games last night. The A team won by a score of 31 to 21. RIley White led scoring fo rthe jags with 13 points. Sarah Finks added 8 more. Madison Rusnak had 6 steals in the win. The B team played down to the wire winning 22 to 21. Whitney Cox led scoring with 5 points and Mariah Adams and Abby Felter each chipped in with 4 more. Bradie Johnson led rebounding with 7 boards!

8th Grade

The 8th grade basketball team defeated Chisholm Trail last night in the A game by a score of 40-28. Riley White scored 17 points and Madison Rusnak had 10. White grabbed 15 rebounds and Rachel DeSanto and Sarah Finks each had 7. The team played great defense and played together very well! The B team fell in a close game 26 to 29. Rachel Rodriguez had  7 points, Abby Felter had 6, and Mariah Adams and Whitney Cox each had 5. Rodriguez had 10 steals and Adams pulled down 8 boards in the game. Both teams are at 3 and 1 on the season.
 

9th Grade

Even thought the freshmen girls lost to PRT last night, it was their best game of the year.  Brooklyn Ellis had 13 points in her first game back and Katie Markel did a terrific job in helping break PRT's press.  Jazmine Holbert had 6 points and Markel had 12 rebounds.  The B team had great hustle from Kara Dubois and Bailey Vonfeldt.

8th Grade

The 8th grade girls basketball team fell to Prairie Trail last night in the A game. Riley White scored 7 points. Abby Rhodes had a good game defensively. White also had several blocked shots. The B team won by a score of 31-30. Alicia DeSanto led scoring with 17 points. Lizzy Intfen had 7 rebounds, Mariah Adams had 5 and Abby Felter had 4. The entire B team worked hard to pull off the win!

Please note: The 8th grade will not be playing the games on their schedule against Indian Trail (Nov. 18th and Dec. 11th). We have been able to add one game. It is on Dec. 1 (MON) at 3:30 at Lawrence South. More infomation to follow. Also please note: There WILL be PRACTICE on Tuesday Nov. 11th after school.

The 9th grade girls started off their season with a 28-24 victory over SFT.  Katie Markel had 14 points, and Alex Fisher had 9 rebounds.  Jazmine Holbert also added 6 rebounds and Alexus Davis had 3 steals.  The B team was led by Angela McFarland's 14 points.  Courtey, the riggle-nator, and Dallas Diaz  each scored a basket in the 2nd half.

The B team won by a score of 48 to 4. Rachel Rodriguez led scoring with 10 points and Rachel Werth and Lizzy Intfen each added 8 more. Kaitlin Parrott had 3 assists in the win.
