ICT Crossfire era comes to an end

Crossfire,

It has been a tremendous run and experience developing this team to its best potential. The quality of the player is not always matched by the skill level, but each of you brought your best attitudes to this team, and we had a fun and enjoyable season this year and in the past several years.

Russell, Mike, and Galen wish each of you the best next year and hope you further your soccer skills and enjoy this wonderful game of soccer. We hope to see you on the soccer fields in the future. If we meet on opposing teams, we'll wish you the best, hope you play your best, and each of you will always be winners, even when the score does not reflect this for your team.

GO CROSSFIRE!!!!

Crossfire Brings First Win of Outdoor Season

Crossfire took on the Derby Heat to the turf today, winning 1-0. Derby, carrying a spring season record of 0-3-1(tie) falls to 0-4-1, while Crossfire brings their record to 1-2 to move into a three way tie for 6th place, and ahead of Derby, Azzuri, and Storm.

This was a hard fought game, finishing the 1st half at 0-0. John scored late in the 2nd half with a well placed penalty kick that richoceted off a Derby player and into the goal. The Heat, frustrated with frequent off sides calls, got hot, lost their cool, and could not regain their momentum on the field after the Crossfire score. GREAT WIN, Crossfire.

Fall Season in the Goal

After a slow season start, the ICT Crossfire finished strong. After losing the first games of the season, the Crossfire came with a win against the Sharks. An unusual scheduled season resulted in a FOUR week break between the win and next game. This break was split with a planned tournament, but due to circumstances, Crossfire cancelled out of the tournament.

This break contributed to the loss of the next game against Derby. While the green team didn't blow away the orange, they played sharper, and came away with the win. Crossfire's first half saw them control the ball most of the half but gave up scores on breakaways. Green took control of the 2nd half and turned the Crossfire flame down.

The final game was a repeat against the Sharks. The first 4-1 finish was duplicated on the final game as well. Contributing to the scoring was new team member Pearl who also contributed an assist. This is the first game the Crossfire has had a sub since John broke his wrist.  We're looking forward to having all members healthy!

Double Header Season Opener

ICT Crossfire began thier fall 2009 season with a double header against the SC Cosmos and the Derby Heat. With Anthony injured, Crossfire had no subs and had to rely on good game management. Doctors report on Anthony indicates he'll return midweek for the team, and definitely be ready to play for the next game.

Worried about fatigue, Crossfire gameplan was for ball management, using skill to control the passes and the game's outcome. Survinging first game jitters during the initial half, Crossfire hung back and played a defensive game, holding Cosmos to no scores. Unfortunately, the game ended for Crossfire with no scores, while they held Cosmos to only one.  Crossfire was in home Orange, and Cosmos wore blue and gold.

Sunday, day two of the double header found Crossfire battling Derby Heat. Derby, in Green scored 3 in the first half. Crossfire, had an immediate answer after their 3rd score with a 20 yard shot from Joey prior to half. Joey scored again after the half break on a feed from Luke, but couldn't hold Derby back with a final score 2-5.
