Your Coach's
Congrats and welcome to 2010 Minors Allstars -(Officially we are registered and bracketed as "Milan Team A" - but we are trying to come up with team names other than "Milan A" and "Milan B" - more to follow on that.........)
We are all very excited about the team this year and hope you are too!!! Below are a few quick team items and team rules as we get this started, please be sure to check back to this website for any updates, cancellations, team news, progress and what ever else we can fit in the few weeks that we will be together:
1) All players are expected to try their very best and hardest everytime they step on the field and will be asked to sign a "Allstar Contract" stating a commitment to 110% effort at all times, sometime in the first week of practices ("contract" includes all team expectations, rules and conduct policies).
2) All players will be immedietly held accountable for their behavior and conduct while representing Rock Island and Milan in this years Allstar Season! On-Field and Off-Field, each player is to conduct themselves as an Allstar with excellent sportsmanship, proper teammate conduct, a willingness to learn, a willingness to compete at the highest level and the willingness to put forth the effort that is expected as an Allstar player while participating in 2010 AllStar Season! Any player can be removed from the team for ANY infraction of our team conduct policies and/or rules - - please remind your athlete that it is a well earned privilage and honor to be an Allstar, and they must follow the proper sportsmanship conduct at all times and also to be very very aware that any team rule infraction will result in immediete removal from the 2010 Allstar Team - ZERO TOLORANCE is in effect from now until the end of the 2010 Allstar season.
3) Winning is secondary to your athletes all around growth and future! Please remember that your players are 9 and 10 years old - We dont care how many mistakes or errors your players make on the field over the next month, but we do care about your athletes over all commitment level, growth and each one reaching their full potential as they become better people for future endeavors, better athletes and better all around young men under the pressures that come up over this special few weeks every year. We expect all players to follow all team conduct rules, at all times, attend and be on time for all assigned report times, team meetings, pregame and post games events, as well as be clean, neat and organized with everything involved and all behaviour and conduct issues are to be checked at the gate. If these conditions are not met, your player will be immedietly replaced with another player that was cut from the team at try outs and is waiting on stand by for any possible open spot. Parents please remind your players that this is a zero tolerance atmosphere over the next 3 weeks and to be on their very best sportsmanship and only put out acceptable team levels of conduct and proper behaviour at all team events - on and off the field. Now that they have made the team, the real work begins for them - not the other way around! Your players will be expected to give 110% at all times to keep their Allstar Player status and standing on the team. Any player removals or ejections from the 2010 Allstar Teams are final and at the coaches descretion with approval from the league President and their will be no refunds for any costs involved prior to removal of a player due to conduct, behaviour or any type of team rule violation.
4) Jerseys and Hats are ordered and money will need to be collected at the first practice to cover the cost of the jersey and hat. If you would like your sons last name on the back of the jersey or your sons player number on the back of his hat, you may take the jersey and/or hat to Sports Depot and it will cost an additional $3.00 per item, but its completely up to the parents to follow through with this prior to July 10th. We should have our jersey's and hats on July 5th so you will have a few days to get this done if you wish. Parents to supply the following Uniform standards prior to July 7th - - Baseball Cleats, Athletic Protective Cups, White Full Length Pants, Red Belts and Red Socks as we will be practicing in full dress the last few practices (this helps everyone get comfortable in the heat and relaxed quicker).
5) Athlete Commitment to Proper Rest , Proper Dieting and Proper Team Conduct and also "The 24 Hour Pre-Game Preparation" - means Allstar Players commit to going to bed by 10pm everynight and sleep at least 8 hours during THE ENTIRE AllStar Season ----- to ensure proper body and mental rest is there!
Athletes dedication to proper Diets that should be VERY low in sugar, low in snacks, very high in protien, high in carbs and very high in fluids (very low or no pop products - please) for THE ENTIRE Allstar Season----- to ensure proper mental, body and competitive preparation.
Athletes proper conduct and good decision commitments/ sacrifices with-in the "24 hour pre game window" - NO swimming, No outdoor body draining activities what so ever are allowed with-in the 24 hour pre game window - -game day preparation is imparitive for competition at this level, as our 1st game is not until 4pm on a Saturday in the high heat of July. Allstar Players are expected to help make those proper commitment sacrifices / decisions - as they arise! - - - to ensure proper mental, body and competitive preparation.
