Hawk flys high in week 7

Tour veteran Bill Hawkins took advantage of some incredible fall weather to post a season best 42 for a net 30, good enough for first place, a shinny rock, and $1,080,000 PV dollars.  A wickedly accurate 7 wood and some clutch puts put Bill at the top of the charts for the second to last week of competition.  Pete Weiand, Brad Shott, and Al Head split 2nd thru 4th place money for $448,000 dineros  each.

Now on to the money board, Steady Pete Weiand  climbed over Rick Oliver in the standings and has a commanding $200,000 dollar lead heading into the 8th week.  Like taking candy from a baby is how another player described Petes game from the white's at Pheasant Valley.  My thinking is that he is just really good!  Anyway, Rick, Hank, Hawk, Jack( the real Rees), And Al round out the top 6 money winners in the standings.

Sunday is the day that it all boils down to.  Shinny rocks, a real big shinny rock, first pick at the table, and a spot on Big Break LuGene Links awaits this years winner of the PV 11 Fall tour!  Action Starts at 12:00 noon.  Be there or be square amigos.

Down the stretch we go!

2006 PV Fall Tour champion Carl Anderson has still got what it takes to navigate his way around the trecherous links called Pheasant Valley.  Netting a low score of 31 put Carl at the head of the class this week and nestled $828,000 clams in his PV basket.  New comer Brian King broke in to the upper PV strata earning $496,800 with a net 32 which was good enough for second place all by his lonesome.  Bob Schane shot one of the weeks three 37's and captured third place doremi which was a hefty $312,800.  Keith Hitzeman, Jack Rees, Pete Reynolds, Brad Shott, Pete Weiand, and Steve Westgate shared fourth place.

Rick Oliver is the leader on the overall money board and has been for the last three weeks.  Pete Weiand is breathing all over Ricks knuckles however.  Pete trails Rick by a scant $200,000 or so as we head into the last two events.  Thats a nice lead for Rick, but the big rock is still up for grabs.  Any one of the top ten players could get hot and lift the coveted rock in week eight.

$6,000,000 dollars is up for grabs in week seven, that my fellow linksters is alot of cabbage.  The winners share next week is over $1,000,000 PV dollars.

Complete results are posted in the files section.

Rees wins the rock for week #5

Hold on tight Muchachos, no ones perfect, we all make mistakes, the important thing is that we get it right...right?  If you looked at the results Monday or Tuesday morning you know what I'm talking about.  Jack Rees is the "official" winner of a shiny rock for week #5.  A shiny rock and $720,000 spondulicks to be exact.  2008 champion Jerry Scimio netted a 32 good enough for 2nd place and $432,000 PV bucks in the pig. Hank Laniga and Momo Stoijic snagged third place money worth $232,000 each.

Not much has changed on our leader board this week. Rookie Rick Oliver with a total of $2,107,200 smackers is still some $230,000 dead presidents ahead of Pete Weiand who is about $500,000 bucks ahead of Hank Laniga. Jerry Lambert has banked just over a million fake bucks to hold down fourth place. Bob Stewart has won a smooth $962,000 PV bucks and holds a slight lead over Jack Rees who vaulted into 6th place with his week 5 victory.

Just a little FYI for you.  The rocks are mucho shiny this year and the big rock... well lets just say its cooler than ever.  Truthfully, that is more pressure than most golfers can handle, enough to make a 1 foot put look long, enough to make your knees knock on the tee.  Next week there is $4,600,000 dollars there for the taking, so heres to nice weather and low scores.

Week 4 goes to Oliver

Oh Nelly this is gonna be a good one!!!  Tour rookie Rick Oliver posted a net 31 to edge Hank Laniga and Pete Weiand by a measly stroke and in the proccess dropped a cool $1,260,000 PV fall tour dollars into his account.  With the win Rookie Rick (I like it, it has a nice ring to it) shot to the top of the leaderboard with a whopping $2,087,600  PV smackers.  Pete and Hank is not a new country western duo but rather the 2nd and 3rd place dudes on the leaderboard.  Pete is 2nd with $1,715,083 dollars, Hank has won $1,017,800 PV bucks.  Jerry Lambert, Bob Stewart, and Gene Ciesielski are all in shooting range of the leader with over $800,000 each.

Ben Franklin (maybe it wasn't him) once said "it aint over till the fat lady sings",  a dark horse looms out there somewhere on that leaderboard.  In the second half of the season the weather gets chillier, palms get sweatier (not sure if that is a word), sphincters get tighter, shots get looser, and more importantly HDCP's go down.  Ther is alot of dough out there to be won so hope for good weather, good shots, low scores, and getcha some of it!

Weeks 3 is in the books!!

Tour veteran Pete Weiand shot an incredibly low 33 to net a flat 30 for first pace in week 3 of the PV fall tour.  $756,000 fake dollars found ther way into Pete's wallet pushing his 3 week total to $1,099,083 PV fall tour dollars.  Wes Clark, Rick Oliver, and Bob Stewart all netted 31's and shared second, third, and fourth place money.  That would be $313,600 PV dollars each.  John Batusic and Bob Schane round out the top 5 places.

The overall money leaderboard is a tight one.  P. Weiand sits alone in first place followed closely by Rick Oliver who has banked $827,600 PV dollars, Steve Westgate, Jerry Lambert, Bob Schane, and Gene Ciesielski are in the hunt, all collecting substantial PV money.

There is a lot of dough to win next week, $7,000,000 to be exact.  The winners share is almost 1.4 million dollars.  This week always goes a long way toward determining the league champion so don't miss it!

6 WINNERS IN WEEK TWO!

40 players and six champs, that my fellow linksters is a PV fall tour first. Gene "Geno" Ciesielski, Hank Laniga, Rick Oliver, Bob Rees, Bob Stewart, and Mark Watson all netted 33's put a shiny rock in their pockets.  Splitting 1st thru 6th place PV cash, they all put $280,000 PV dineros into their PV accounts.  Bob Stiener, Don Good, and Pete Weiand netted 34's for runner up honors and $109,000 PV dollars. Jerry Lambert and Steve Westgate sit atop the PV money leader board with $735,500 and $713,625 respectively. The low gross of the day goes to Pete Weiand who shot a 37, Bob Rees chipped in with a 38. For that they both earned a well deserved "atta boy".  Complete results for the week and weekly scores are in the files section, as always if you see a mistake keep it to yourself (just kidding)!

AND THE RACE IS ON!!!

11th PV SEASON IS OFF TO A ROUSING START

Jerry Lambert was the very first champion of the PV fall tour and quite possibly the all time money leader in the PV fall tour.  His game was sharp in 2000 and equally sharp in 2011.  Lambert and Steve Westgate both netted 31's to walk away with the first rocks of the season.  Westgate grossed the low round of the day firing a very impressive 34 on the Pheasant Valley front 9. New comers Rick Oliver, and Gene Cieselski shared 3rd place with veteran Pete Weiand and put $234,000 PV bucks into the accounts.

Complete results for the week, overall standings and weekly scores can be found in the files section.  Click on the files tab located above.

NEW SEASON READY TO BEGIN ON MONDAY SETEMBER 12th!!

The rocks have been picked out, cleaned, and painted, they are ready to have your named etched on them as the weekly champ!  That can mean just one thing....

The PV fall Tour is getting ready to start its eleventh season!  With that in mind we will call this years season PV11.  It takes a very creative mind to come up with such an original name does it not?  Any way... check the files section for last years score and this years new averages/handicaps (by the way for all of you golfing know it alls I know that this is not a true handicap).  The rules sheet and schedule will be posted in the files section ASAP as well.  Please note the rule regarding the T's that we will play from, it is a slight change regarding the green T's.    Remember we start MONDAY, Sept. 12th. Spread the word, bring a friend, and lets get it on.

Rules/schedule have been posted below

PV11 Fall Tour 2011

Monday’s, starting Sept. 12th thru Oct. 30th (Sunday), Pheasant Valley golf course.

Play starts around 3:00, rounds must be played on that Monday, and we will alternate sides. Try to play with another league member.

There is a $10.00 entry fee payable in the bar at the end of your round. All entry fees will be used for prizes.

If you played last year you will start the season with your season ending handicap. An average from another Pheasant Valley league, an average from another league, a USGA handicap, or an honest assessment of a nine hole score at Pheasant Valley will be if you are a new player.

You will get a new average after 4 rounds. We will drop your worst round and average your best three. No player will get a handicap lower than 3 regardless of their scores.

The league will play the white T’s. If you feel because of your age you need to play the green (senior) T’s to be competitive you may do so. If you choose to play the green T’s all of your rounds must be played at those T’s. A player who chooses to play the green T’s and has an established average/handicap based on play from the white T’s will get 80% of that average/handicap.   Please indicate "green T's" on your first score card.

Example: Three round average of 46 from the white T’s = 10 stroke handicap.
10 x .80 = 8 stroke handicap from the green T’s.

No new players after week four.

Play white stakes as a one stroke penalty, not stroke and distance.

You can role the ball.

Leaf rule goes into effect officially in the fourth week, Oct. 3rd.

IF THE COURSE IS OPEN THE ROUND WILL BE PLAYED.

Weekly Purses

WK 1: $4,500,000
WK 2: $3,500,000
WK 3: $4,200,000
WK 4: $7,000,000
WK 5: $4,000,000
WK 6: $4,600,000
WK 7: $6,000,000
WK 8: $5,000,000

Purses will be distributed using the same percentages that are used on the PGA tour.
